“But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and He will stand upon the earth at last,” Job 19:25 (NLT).

We are inundated with such incredible headlines––from hair-triggering global affairs, to loony-tunes politics, to a popular culture neck-deep in depravity––it sometimes seems like this world is coming unhinged. This temporary home of ours seems to be peeling away its last shreds of sanity!

In Scripture, Job profoundly says: “But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and He will stand upon the earth at last,” Job 19:25 (NLT). This is such an encouragement to us: Our Savior lives. His love for us extends beyond our human understanding. It’s so great and so unfathomable, He gave His life for us! The world around us may appear in shambles, but His love for us is intact, everlasting and unbreakable. We just need to trust and follow Him. I am reminded of the story of Ali, an international student who escaped war in his country. One of our staff members sent in his story and writes:

“Ali was young, radical and vocal. He loved to argue with Christians and defend his Muslim faith. He had been trained in Islam since he was a child. Many people shared Christ’s love with him at school, at church, and home hospitality. Because of the love Ali felt, he began to read the Bible. The prayers of God’s people and the Truth of God’s Word broke through. He went from arguing to listening, from reading to understanding, from darkness to light. Ali trusted Christ as his Savior! Eventually, he received a PhD from seminary, and God burdened him for his people. Even though Ali is not able to return to his home country, he has a major influence on his countrymen. Today, he writes books to help them better understand Islam, holds seminars outside his country for pastors working in country, teaches and trains believers on Islam, and has weekly satellite radio and television programs which are sent into his home country. God is the Redeemer!”

As someone who grew up in the Muslim faith, Ali demonstrated remarkable trust in his decision to become a Christian. I love how the Truth of the Gospel and the prayers of other believers helped release this young man from darkness to light! What is equally amazing, is that we continue to receive stories like this. I recently found out that last year we received over 3,000 responses from predominately Muslim-background students on our evangelism website. But for the last three months, it’s already averaging 700 a month––on pace to triple our annual response. These students are meeting and accepting Jesus! What a blessing that so many are meeting their Redeemer, who lives and “who will stand upon the earth at last!”
