As God continues to orchestrate continual and countless blessings within our ministry, I am reminded—and extremely thankful—for our unique situation. We are strategically placed throughout the country and the world in places designed to minister to students who might otherwise never hear the Good News. What could be more significant than this amazing opportunity?
This brings to mind the importance of praying about all matters and praising the Lord who loves us. Scripture reminds us not to “...worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.”
I certainly praise God for allowing me the privilege—as a very ordinary international student—to come into a very extraordinary set of circumstances into International Students, Inc. We are blessed with dedicated volunteers, staff and great leaders—at all levels. We also have the support of several churches and sacrificial donors from across the country. All of these components have had an integral part to play in the successes we have experienced in the last 14 years since I have been at ISI.
As we move forward with our ambitious goal to reach every international student for Christ, I also want to highlight the importance of remembering God's faithfulness. The Old Testament refers to stones of remembrance after major victories from God. These stones were used to create a memorial, representing the mighty power of God displayed on behalf of His people. Remember, it was our Lord who rolled back the Jordan for the Israelites, who had spent 40 years wandering in the wilderness!
In the New Testament, Jesus, after the Mount of Transfiguration experience, encourages His disciples not to build three tabernacles and to live there, but rather to return from the top of the mountain back to the valley of ministry where they are challenged to complete the unfinished task.
Both of these stories highlight the act of remembering God's faithfulness and returning at the same time, with a new level of revelation and inspiration from God to advance the Great Commission in the valley.
I want to share with you some of our recent success stories so that we may praise God for His incredible faithfulness. As you know, we held a powerful, life-changing conference in Goa, India this summer. Several attendees continue sharing with us how the event impacted their lives. A husband-and-wife team shared these incredible numbers with us:
We returned to India after nine and a half years. We had a blessed time with family members and friends:
- We traveled 30,000 miles over 3½ weeks. We visited India, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Vietnam and Singapore.
- We took 19 flights and did not miss a single connection. Wow!!
- We visited 28 returnees (former students).
- We preached 12 times with attendance of 150 to 2,000.
- We shared our testimonies and ISI vision 75 times from 1 to 2,000 at a time.
- We met principals, faculty members, students and staffs of 8 seminaries.
Also, this very same couple received the President’s Ministry Legacy Award for 40 years of service with International Students, Inc. at the Goa conference! God's faithfulness shines through this couple's incredible testimony! Stories like this can inspire us to complete the “unfinished task” of reaching every international student for Christ.
I encourage you to take some time to pray for an abundance of God's favor upon these students. Let us pray for God to work through their hearts and minds as only He can. Above all, let us thank God, who is the same yesterday, today and forever.
